CORENA, the conservatory of the Boundou Community Nature Reserve (RNCB), works to preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable economic development in Eastern Senegal.
Created in 2009 through cooperation between Isère department and the former Tambacounda regional council, the Boundou Community Nature Reserve (RNCB) covers 120,000 hectares in the heart of eastern Senegal, close to the Malian border. This reserve is home to a rich biodiversity, cohabiting with local populations, cattle and transhumant herds.
CORENA, created to manage the reserve, focuses on preserving ecosystems, reducing man-made threats and promoting local economic development. The conservatory coordinates the integrated management of the reserve and works closely with communities to develop sustainable economic projects and improve living conditions for local residents.
Play for Nature supports CORENA in organizing a soccer tournament and fun sports activities for the conservation of the Boundou Community Nature Reserve in 2025. The aim of the project is to raise awareness among local populations of the importance of preserving biodiversity and encouraging sustainable behavior. Play for Nature finances sports equipment for the activities, as well as prizes for the winners. It also covers awareness-raising and photo exhibition materials, as well as the human resources in charge of the competition. This support helps to raise awareness and promote sustainable management of the reserve, while actively involving local communities in the protection of their environment.
