Tanzanian Elephant Foundation (TEF)

The Tanzanian Elephant Foundation (TEF) works to conserve elephants and reduce human-elephant conflict in Tanzania.

Tanzanian Elephant Foundation (TEF)

TEF, based in Tanzania, is dedicated to the protection of African savanna elephant populations, a species classified as endangered on the IUCN Red List (2020). With a wealth of experience in conservation, the association carries out projects to raise awareness, build appropriate infrastructure to reduce human-elephant conflict, and promote environmental education. This includes fencing with beehives to discourage elephants from entering and trampling crops. Elephant ecology is studied using photo traps, GPS collars and participatory science to limit conflict.

Our support

Play for Nature supports TEF in organizing a soccer tournament in 2025 to raise awareness of elephant conservation among local populations. In addition to the matches, educational activities and training in sustainable economic practices, such as honey production, will be offered. This initiative aims to raise awareness among 1,500 people directly and 20,000 indirectly.

The funding provided by Play for Nature covers sports equipment, organization costs and communication via the local media. This support strengthens the mobilization of local communities and supports sustainable partnerships.
